The Massachusetts Comprehensive Fire Safety Code, 527 CMR 1.00, requires compliance with NFPA 241 in all structures undergoing construction, alteration, or demolition. NFPA 241, Standard for Safeguarding Construction, Alteration, and Demolition Operations, published by the National Fire Protection Association, provides a comprehensive framework for managing these hazards and reducing the likelihood and impact of fires on active job sites. Additionally, the 10th Edition of the Massachusetts State Building Code requires that a Construction Fire Prevention Program developed in accordance with NFPA 241 be submitted and approved by both the Building and Fire Officials at the time of the building permit application as part of a project’s building permit documentation.
This webinar provides an overview of the purpose, scope, and key requirements of NFPA 241. Topics include the roles and responsibilities of the Fire Prevention Program Manager (FPPM), development of site-specific fire prevention programs, control of ignition sources, management of temporary utilities, hot work permitting, housekeeping practices, and the protection or impairment management of fire protection systems during construction phases.
Through real-world examples and practical implementation strategies, attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how NFPA 241 helps minimize fire risk, protect workers and property, and ensure regulatory compliance throughout the lifecycle of construction projects.
The presentation will be led by Code Red Consultants. Code Red Consultants is a premier fire protection and life safety engineering firm dedicated to safeguarding the built environment.
