    Three Take Aways from PTC

IFMA Boston kicked off the program season with a panel discussion at PTC on utilizing disruptive technology within the workplace.  The panelists included Dhaval Shah of Schneider Electric, Eric Graham of Crowd Comfort and John Civello of PTC.  The group was moderated by Marc Margulies, FAIA, LEED AP of Margulies Perruzzi Architects.  The attendees had the benefit of hearing how PTC went from a traditional suburban workplace to an urban workplace with unassigned seating and how they made it a success.

Three of the lessons learned included:

    • The use of technology within the workplace has become imperative to not only measuring and running the workplace and builidngs, but also in how it interacts with the personnel to help them excel in their roles.
    • Buildings are no longer just about physical construction--the human factor has become as important.  And technology is helping to enhance the tenant’s experience and comfort which leads to better productivity and ROI
    • PTC made a big move, not only in location, but workplace philosophy.  To ensure a successful rollout the team utilized employee communication, executive buy in, and technology to prepare their employees. It also required a close relationship between Real Estate and IT.
